"Ethiogroove" successfully recreates the atmosphere of the first
meeting between Mahmoud Ahmed, the star from Addis Abeba, and the
Bostonian big band Either/Orchestra, famous for their arrangments of
many Ethiopian standards. The DVD features rehearsals, interviews and
the beautiful concert given at the Banlieues Bleues festival in March
2006. Anaïs Prosaïc has intelligently captured the subtleties
of this formation, furthermore she gives information on the history of
Ethiopian music. This film is a tribute to what jazz, blues and rock
musicians owe to Africa.
