Tserendavaa and his son Trosgtgerel, both singers and cattle breeders, practice the xöömei the Mongol overtone singing style on a daily basis, accompanying themselves on moriin khuur horse-head fiddles and tovshuur lutes.
‘Overtone singing’ is a generic term for vocal practices aiming to simultaneously emit two sounds, a melody of harmonics over a fundamental drone.
