Among the nomadic people of Mongolia, there is an incredibly rich musical tradition passed on orally from one generation to the next. Tserendavaa and his son Trosgtgerel, both singers and cattle breeders, practice the xöömei the Mongol overtone singing style on a daily basis, accompanying themselves on moriin khuur horse-head fiddles and tovshuur lutes.
‘Overtone singing’ is a generic term for vocal practices aiming to simultaneously emit two sounds, a melody of harmonics over a fundamental drone.

A bonus DVD presents them performing in concert at the festival ‘Les Orientales’, so that audiences can not only hear but also view the striking technique of these two masters, and the beauty of their art.
