On the shores of Lake Sebu, in the southern Philippines, the women of the Lemhadong collective give shape to a world whispered by the trees, the birds, the insects, the forest fairies… Hence, lutes, gongs, flutes, jaw harps, frogs, streams, horses and other crickets combine their voices in this musical portrait of a disappearing world.
The women in the Lemhadong collective are at the interface of two worlds. The elders have spent years in a society that has kept an intimate relationship with nature and its guardian spirits, with only a vague conscience of other close and distant civilisations. Yet the vast world has now forcefully entered this microcosm, and the challenge this represents for its inhabitants is not an easy one to face. These musicians try to anchor their sound poetry in this new world which is wiping out their old one.
The Lemhadong women, are not only musicians (poly-instrumentalists), but they are also skilled at various crafts. Besides playing the hegelung lute, the sludoy bamboo zither, the gong ensembles and other instruments, they can forge bronze following one of the oldest techniques in the world; they weave a fabric with fascinating geometric motifs, called tnalak; they make finely embroidered clothes and all kinds of necklaces, bracelets and other ornaments from pearls, bamboo and grains, etc. 
Guardians of a priceless cultural treasure, they delicately display the subtle imagination of a world about to disappear, as well as the astonishing modernity of its æsthetics. They perpetuate, and keep on renewing their repertoire. To nurture it, they lend an attentive ear to the sounds of water, insects and birds, they observe human behaviour in minute details, and they recall the melodies that the guardian spirits of nature whisper in their dreams.
