An odd music alchemist whose alambic generates marvels as yet
unrevealed, a bird of prey searching the night for evanescent sounds,
Jean-Pierre Drouet is a percussionnist with a capital P. From
contemporary music to jazz, from musical theater to the strangest
possible music machines, he makes music out of everything. A subtle
composer wlth a great sense of humour, he is also one hell of an
improviser.
He likes words and language„and his voice is often
part of his music, as can be heard in this solo album. There's
something happening in the absolute of music, at the very instant when
breath turns into sound, when sound turns into words.
Farther
upstream, noise turns into sound: the strange friction or the almost
vocal squeals he draws from his skins dialogue with his voice which
also squeaks, rubs, rasps and searches, in his innermost self, for
humanity being born.
Jean-Pierre Drouet's drums live and enliven
with a primeval rhythm, a vital beat in search of itself, an ancient
drama re-enacted.
