La ville de Dar es-Salaam fut, à la fin des années 1970 et au début des années 1980, l’une des scènes de l’Afrique les plus riches en vibrations, avec entre 25 et 30 orchestres professionnels qui se produisaient dans les boîtes de nuit et les salles de spectacle.. Dialogues serrés entre trois ou quatre guitares, riffs des sections de cuivres, swing à mort pendant des heures, la « muziki wa dansi » (musique de danse) , n’était pas seulement une distraction nocturne se déroulant en ville : elle constituait la trame sonore de la vie quotidienne relayée par la radio et les cassettes.
Dans cette anthologie figurent les plus fameux orchestres de cette période :le « Mlimani Park Orchestra », le « Dar International Orchestre » et le « Vijana Jazz Band ».

In the late 70s and early 80s, the city of Dar es-Salaam was one of the richest and most vibrating musical scenes in Africa, with some 25 to 30 professional bands performing in nightclubs and theatres. Tight dialogues between three of four guitars, horn section riffs and unfailing swing characterize this “muziki wa dansi” (dance music). It was not only the music of urban night clubbers but also the sound backdrop of everyday life, thanks to radio broadcast and cassette players.
This anthology presents the most famous bands of that period: the “Mlimani Park Orchestra”, “Dar International Orchestra” and “Vijana Jazz Band”

Now fully acknowledged on the ‘new Corsican scene’, the singer Anghjula Potentini presents her second album, entitled “Fiara”. Her compositions and arrangements are still based on the tradition, yet they have markedly shifted towards a more modern song style.
Highlighting her warm and powerful voice, this production is the work of the arranger who has contributed to I Muvrini’s fame. Played with talent and finesse, the guitars, violins and percussion provide the perfect accompaniment for Anghjula’s new musical venture.
