En 1989, marqués par leur rencontre avec L’Afrique, la danseuse Anne-France Brunet et le musicien Vincent Zanetti, tous deux originaires de Suisse, créent le Djinn Djow, une compagnie métisse de danse et de musique. Après plusieurs spectacles et tournées, l’horizon s’élargit lorsque les deux artistes sont engagés par le maître percussionniste malien Soungalo Coulibaly, avec qui ils travailleront pendant quatorze ans, jusqu’à sa disparition en 2004 … L’aventure du Djinn Djow est celle du métissage vécu comme principe de création artistique. Ce disque présente un répertoire lié aux musiques de la confrérie des chasseurs, illustrées par le griot Sidikiba Coulibaly.
In 1989, the dancer Anne-Frane Brunet and the musician Vincent Zanetti presented their first duet show. Both hailing from Switzerland and marked by their encounter with African, they created Djinn Djow, a cross-cultural music and dance company. After a number of shows and tours, their horizon widened expanded as they joined the band of the djembe master Soungalo Coulibaly. They worked with him until his untimely death to cancer in March 2004. Djinn Djow champions cross-culture as a principle of artistic creation. This album presents a repertoire related to the brotherhood of hunters, illustrated by the griot Sidikiba Coulibaly. A European tour is in preparation.
