Taiwan Erhu

The erhu (two-string spike fiddle) is undoubtedly the most popular Chinese instrument throughout the world. In Taiwan, the art of erhu has taken in the local cultural richness and creativity, personifying a Far Eastern music tradition of age-old roots. The erhu virtuoso Tanghsuan “TS” Lo navigates between genres and traditions, both folk and erudite. He is just as at ease performing the classic “horse race” of the erhu repertoire as he is with melodies inspired by gypsy music, appropriating all possible musical repertoires, even recently including jazz and bossa nova.
