Il Sole Non Si Muove

A creation and a moment in the history of the Company, devoted to the studu of music born during the sixteenth in the Mediterranean and in England. A project that plays on anachronisms, amuses itself with concordances, and allows us to frequent, separated by five centuries, composers and poets born in the heart of an era made of in-between, of interstices, and of light and shade [chiaroscuro]. A program, finally, that entrusts us with the hopes, the fears, the joys and the tears of men disturbed by feeling their world on the point of making a great leap. And who are as like us as brothers. It has now been 17 years since Cie Rassegna crossed with Mediterranean popular music. To cross is not to merge, nor to separate. Not to assimilate, nor to exclude. It is to connect. It is to question singularities as well as resemblances, and to connect apparently distant elements, supposedly foreign, in order to draw fruitful parallels from them.It is to doubt the contradictions, too often evoked — in music as elsewhere — that reduce the infinite to the binary, and the compartmentalization that stems from it. It is, finally, to question the gaps, the voids, the intervals, which often define us more accurately than the overflows, the outgrowths or the frontiers. Il sole non si muove. The Sun Does Not Move. The title was supposed to be only provisional, but in time it stuck and settled into place. That of a creation and a moment in the history of the Company, devoted to the study of music born during the sixteenth century in the Mediterranean and in England, as well as to their movement in space and time.
