Chants Soufis Des Comores

Music of the world

This album answers our wish to celebrate a Sufi heritage little featured on the large worldwide music scene. Moreover, those who champion it in the Comoros do not consider it as music, rather as necessary speech in their progression towards God, as a means of spiritual elevation and as an essential aspect of the way (tariqa or brotherhood) they have chosen for themselves. We also wanted to pay homage to Sheikh Ali Amane, born in 1900 and deceased in 1986. This album is a way to remember him. A way to salute the Sufi values that were his. A way also to maintain the sound memory of a spiritual heritage that some people think of as endangered in these “islands of the moon”[3] located in the Indian Ocean.
